Somatic Water Therapy Training – Foundation Level (50 Hours)

Event Description

The Somatic Water Therapy Training is a 7-day immersive foundation program designed for those called to work with water as a therapeutic medium.

This professional training combines pool-based and open-water practice with somatic awareness, embodied facilitation, movement, breath, and integration. Participants are guided through experiential learning, supervised practice, and group processes that support both personal embodiment and professional development.

The training takes place in Dahab, Egypt—a world-renowned destination for freediving, diving, and ocean-based practice. Participants stay together at a beautiful all-inclusive seaside resort overlooking the Red Sea, with dedicated daily pool access for the training as well as carefully selected open-water locations for experiential practice.

Professional Training Pathway

The Somatic Water Therapy Training is designed as a modular professional pathway rather than a single standalone course.

This 50-hour foundation training represents the first level of the pathway. Advanced and extended training modules are planned to follow, allowing practitioners to deepen their skills, log additional practice hours, and refine their facilitation over time.

Future training levels may include:

  • Advanced Somatic Water Therapy Training

  • Extended practice and mentorship modules

  • Specialized trainings in group facilitation, trauma-informed practice, or open-water work

Completion of the foundation level is a prerequisite for all advanced modules.

Who This Training Is For

  • Beginners called to work with water therapeutically

  • Bodyworkers, osteopaths, therapists, yoga teachers

  • Practitioners seeking an embodied, experiential foundation

This Training Is Not For

  • Participants unwilling to engage in in-water practice

Prerequisites & Physical Requirements

Participants must be comfortable in water and able to float unassisted.

This training involves daily in-water practice in both pool and calm open-water environments. While no prior water therapy certification is required, participants should:

• Be able to swim and feel at ease in water
• Be physically and psychologically stable for immersive body-based work
• Be willing to engage in respectful touch-based practice with clear consent
• Take personal responsibility for their physical and emotional limits

This training is not suitable for participants with unmanaged medical or psychological conditions that could be aggravated by water-based or somatic practices.

Training Highlights

  • 50 hours of guided instruction and practice

  • Pool and open-water sessions

  • Daily yoga and somatic movement

  • Sound healing and integration practices

  • Supervised facilitation practice

  • Small group setting (max. 20 participants)

  • Certificate of completion

Foundational Curriculum (50 Hours)

This training introduces the core principles and practices of in-water somatic facilitation, with a strong emphasis on safety, presence, embodied perception, and relational attunement in water.

Key areas of study include:

  • Foundations of somatic awareness in water

  • Safety, holding, and support principles

  • Nervous system regulation through water-based practice

  • Pool and open-water facilitation

  • Touch, boundaries, and consent in aquatic contexts

  • Group dynamics and basic facilitation skills

  • Integration practices and self-reflection

The emphasis of this level is experiential learning and supervised practice rather than theoretical instruction.

Certification & Recognition

Participants receive a certificate of completion issued by Oceanic Ventures upon successful participation in the 50-hour Somatic Water Therapy Training.

This certificate represents completion of the foundational level of the Somatic Water Therapy professional pathway.

Experiential & Initiatory Components

While the Somatic Water Therapy Training is structured as a 50-hour professional foundation program, the learning is not limited to pool- and ocean-based practice alone.

The training is intentionally designed as a living, embodied immersion, where somatic learning is supported through carefully chosen excursions and rituals that align with the curriculum and deepen integration.

Planned experiential components may include:

  • Opening sweat lodge ceremony
A traditional heat-based ceremony at the beginning of the training to support grounding, group cohesion, intention setting, and nervous system reset.
  • Desert immersion & Mount Sinai pilgrimage
A guided journey into the Sinai desert, including a climb of Mount Sinai and a visit to a sacred water source, supporting themes of initiation, endurance, and embodied presence.
  • Blue Hole visit
A facilitated visit to the Blue Hole area, offering a direct encounter with depth, presence, and breath in a freediving-informed but non-competitive context.

Continuing the Journey

Participants who wish to deepen their journey are invited to continue directly into the Dolphin Journey following the training. For those feeling called into a complete immersion, the path may further extend into the Nile temple journey, creating a full Egypt initiation. Special combination pricing is available for training participants joining these extended pathways.

Somatic Water Therapy Training + Dolphin Journey

A continuation of the training through direct contact with wild dolphins in the Red Sea, allowing embodied integration, nervous system recalibration, and deep relational attunement with water beyond the pool.

Full Egypt Immersion: Training + Dolphins + Nile

A complete immersion journey that weaves somatic water therapy training, dolphin frequencies, and sacred temple work along the Nile into one coherent initiatory pathway.

📍 About Dahab, Egypt

Dahab is a small coastal town on the Sinai Peninsula, known for its calm atmosphere, crystal-clear waters, and long-standing culture of ocean-based practice.

Originally a Bedouin fishing village, Dahab has evolved into an international hub for freediving, diving, yoga, and embodied movement disciplines. It attracts practitioners, teachers, and facilitators from around the world who value simplicity, nature, and focused practice over mass tourism.

The Red Sea around Dahab offers exceptional conditions for water-based work: warm temperatures, high visibility, minimal currents, and easy access from shore. These conditions make it an ideal environment for somatic water therapy training, allowing participants to work safely and consistently in both pool and open-water settings.

Beyond the water, Dahab provides a grounded and relaxed retreat atmosphere, with desert landscapes, quiet beaches, and a slow rhythm that supports deep integration, rest, and group cohesion.

Environmental & Local Impact

As part of our commitment to the waters that host this training, a portion of the program supports marine protection efforts in the Red Sea region.

We contribute to established conservation initiatives working to protect coral reefs, marine life, and coastal ecosystems, and where possible, integrate local clean-up actions during the training week.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need prior experience in water therapy or bodywork to join the training?

No prior certification is required.

The Somatic Water Therapy Training – Foundation Level is designed to be accessible both for beginners who feel called to work with water therapeutically and for experienced practitioners such as bodyworkers, yoga teachers, therapists, or facilitators.

What matters most is a genuine interest in embodied learning, comfort in water, and a willingness to learn.

Why is the training held in Dahab?

Dahab is one of the world’s most respected locations for ocean-based practices such as freediving, yoga, and somatic movement.

The Red Sea offers warm, calm, and extremely clear water, allowing participants to practice safely and consistently in both pool and open-water environments.

Its quiet desert setting also creates a focused retreat atmosphere that supports deep learning, integration, and group cohesion throughout the training week.

Is this a professional certification or a personal immersion?

The Somatic Water Therapy Training is both a professional foundation training and a deeply personal experiential immersion.

Participants receive a 50-hour certificate of completion representing the foundational level of the Somatic Water Therapy professional pathway.

At the same time, the learning happens primarily through direct experience in water, embodied practice, and relational facilitation, which means many participants also experience significant personal insight and transformation during the training.

This combination of professional skill development and embodied learning is what makes the training unique.

What can I do after completing the training?

After completing the Foundation Training, participants will have the core skills to begin practicing the basic principles of Somatic Water Therapy in appropriate settings such as pools, retreats, or personal practice environments.

The training provides a strong experiential foundation in safety, support, somatic awareness, and in-water facilitation.

For those who wish to deepen their professional pathway, advanced training modules and mentorship opportunities are planned to support further development, practice hours, and refinement of facilitation skills.
